There is a debate in Congress today proposed by Democrats to tax the "windfall profits" of oil companies. What the people on Capitol Hill seem to have forgotten is that corporations DO NOT pay taxes. Any additional taxes levied on oil companies will simply be passed down to the consumer in even higher prices. For all the talk of helping the middle class, every policy these people implement ends up penalizing the middle class in higher prices at the store. Just more invisible taxes!

HELLO. What was that old saying from Benjamin Franklin? The TWO CERTAIN things in LIFE are DEATH & TAXES. WINK?
Methinks there is PLENTY of BLAME to go around in the TAX world of POLITICS. HIDDEN, not so HIDDEN and SPECULATION types as AZRON mentioned above.
So we get a $300-$600 rebate check back from OUR TAXES ALREADY PAID while GAS goes to $4 bucks a GALLON? And FOOD to keep us ALIVE jumps by 1/3rd! And PROPERTY and LOCAL and STATE taxes ALL go UP, UP & AWAY in the words of the old, FIFTH DIMENSION song.
What SOME consider "TAXES" is HIDDEN costs MUCH higher ELSEWHERE, SADLY, Mr. P!
NONE are immune to COSTING WE, THE PEOPLE, MORE to LIVE daily.
SIGH.
My BEST to you and yours,
