I was watching a program on the History Channel today called The Universe. It was a documentary of sorts on, well, the universe. I learned a few interesting things that I didn't know and confirmed a few that I suspected. I learned that Jupiter acts as a large magnet that attracts loose debris. The gravitational force of Jupiter keeps the inner planets, including Earth, from being bombarded with asteroids and comets. It seems as though Jupiter has been perfectly placed in the solar system to ensure the survival of life on Earth. I also learned a little about our moon. I knew that the moon was the cause of tides on Earth, but I didn't know that the gravitational pull of the moon helps regulate the degree at which the Earth is tilted on its axis, which is necessary for the growing of crops over the vast majority of the Earth's land masses. Another perfectly designed partner of the Earth. As amazing as the universe is, what really amazes me is the great lengths to which people will go to explain it apart from the great God whose name it literally screams. "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." -Psalm 19:1
God bless.
As wonderful as our Universe is, the LORD said it grows old like a garment and will be rolled up and cast aside for the new Universe He is making. Mr. Hawking said Black Holes are a kind of recycling of this universe and could be a new one at the other end of the tunnel!
Perhaps God has started the process a long time ago and we are just discovering it now. He alone knows the begaining from the end, but the new Universe that is coming is the perfect one that sin and rebellion will not deface its beauty, Sincerely, Moonglow.
I am anxious to see it!
