Common Sense On A Roll

 Up and at 'em

I'm off to work this morning. The only thing worse than getting up and going to work everyday would be not getting up and going to work everyday. Growing kids gotta eat!

"This award is my god now!"

Comedienne Kathy Griffin is under fire for some remarks she made at some irrelevant award show. Upon receiving her award she said, "a lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus." As she left the stage she apparently made another remark about Jesus and then stated, "This award is my god now!" Certain religious leaders (I hesitate to say Christian) want her comments to be censored when this show is broadcast. I argue that she shouldn't be censored for ridiculing Christ, because I don't want anyone else censored when they praise Him. Besides, Jesus is big enough to handle the rantings of some self-absorbed bimbo, after all he was able to handle the burden of my sins and they are many. What do you think?

God bless.

 Six Years Ago

Six years ago tomorrow, 3000 innocent Americans died at the hands of Islamic terrorists. It seems like only yesterday that I heard news of the attack. Sadly, it seems that many have forgotten that tragic September morning. Hopefully, the attack that occurred six years ago will be the only attack we have to commemorate. My gut tells me it won't be. We have drifted back into our sea of complacency and disregard. We are worried about trivial things while our enemy waits and plots. How much longer will he wait? Our military is engaged in battle for our very survival as we know it and we don't give them nearly the support they need. We have discovered detailed architectural plans of American grade schools in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Are we prepared for the possibility of attacks such as occurred in Beslan, Russia? The attacks on the World Trade Center confirmed that we are not immune to terrorism on American soil. Please pray that we never have to face another 9/11.

God bless, and God bless the United States of America!

 Freedom

"Freedom is not America's gift to the world, it is God's gift to humanity." -President George W. Bush.
Freedom is a noble concept. It is probably the greatest ideal in the mind of man, yet it is not man's idea. Sadly, what many call freedom and what they do in the name of their freedom is slavery. We talk about freedom and yet we find death and destruction. We use our freedom as a license to abort our children. We use our freedom to consume alcohol that robs us of our minds and our better judgements. We use our freedom to inject into our bodies substances that wind up decimating us. We use our freedom to pursue sexual pleasures that kill us in the end with venereal disease. We use our freedom to go after worldly gain at the expense of ourselves and our families. Are we free? No, we're not, but we can be. Jesus Christ died to break the chains of slavery placed on us by our sin. He states that, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." He also says, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free." Jesus is the truth and it is the truth that sets us free. Jesus is "God's gift to humanity". He wants to set us free today. "Today is the day of salvation."

God bless.
