I'm saddened at the loss of life and property in southern California. I can't imagine having to stand by and watch everything I've worked for simply go up in smoke and not being able to do anything. What upsets me even more are policies and prohibitions that are in place that prevent clearing dead underbrush from these forests. There are those out there who fight tooth and nail to prevent healthy controlled burning of underbrush in the guise of environmentalism or saving the planet or whatever, yet it is those very policies that are not only destroying homes, businesses, and lives, but natural animal habitat also. Some of these forests are hundreds of years old. They are designed to withstand the occurance of occasional natural fires, but they can't withstand 40 years of bad environmental policies. When normal natural fires aren't allowed to burn and remove dead refuse from the forests, eventually fire ends up consuming not only the refuse, but the forests themselves. What a tragedy! | | | |

Please log on to World Net Daily and read the article concerning the newly passed legislation that prohibits language in school text books that might be offensive to homosexual, transgender, and other such persons. California is the largest purchaser of textbooks. Whatever view put forth in California text books will also be in your children's. This is extremely dangerous to your children. God bless. | | | |

Have you ever noticed that all that Charlie Brown ever wanted to do was to kick that football? He simply had it snatched away by Lucy every time. I've come to the conclusion that most Americans simply want to kick the football, but our elected officials seem bound and determined to snatch it away. They do not listen to the will of the people and pursue policies that end up doing more harm than good. Ironically, just like Charlie Brown never seemed to have sense to get Linus or Pigpen to hold the football, we don't seem to have the common sense to run these people out of office and replace them with others who take their charge and responsibility seriously. The actions of our elected officials are horrible, our inaction is worse.

"No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law, nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
The above sentence is contained within the 14th amendment to the United States Constitution. Now I'm not a politician, but I'm not an idiot either! I understand plain English when I read it. The atrocious ruling by our Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade in 1973 is a violation of the 14th amendment to our Constitution.
First of all, abortion abridges the privileges or immunities of unborn citizens of the United States. They are denied every privilege they have because they are murdered before they even know they have them.
Secondly, abortion denies the unborn child the opportunity to live, live free, and be free to own anything. Unborn children are sentenced to death without ever being charged and with no ability nor opportunity to receive due process.
Third, abortion denies the unborn equal protection under the law. Apart from the horrors of war, the intentional killing of an innocent person is murder, except in the case of the unborn child, where it is the "freedom to choose what to do with one's own body". Now if we accept the argument that a woman is free to do whatever she wishes with her own body, under the 14th amendment's equal protection clause, that has to also apply to men. Now what if a man chooses to exercise his freedom to "do whatever he wishes with his own body" and rapes a woman? Will he be held to the same standard? No! And rightly so!
Abortion is an atrocity. It is immoral. It is ungodly. And according to our Constitution, it is illegal.
